The Junta de Andalucía has won the award for The Worst (and Most Sexist) Advertisement of 2020 , the only award in the advertising industry that no brand, organization or institution wants to have on its list of recognitions. The “We are a team” campaign competed with those of Gioseppo, the Príncipe Pío shopping center in Madrid and the International University of La Rioja. This is an award chosen by FACUA members and supporters through the website FACUA.org/peorempresa . In this edition, 7,673 users have participated. Of them, 37.2% have chosen the Andalusian Government's advertisement and 28.1% have chosen Gioseppo's campaign, which came in second place.
The “We are a team” campaign of the Ministry of Health and Families sought to support essential workers in the midst of a pandemic, but its execution was not without controversy. The creative showed Phone Number List an illustration in which a health worker appeared in a position of submission with a police officer's arm around her shoulders. The campaign, in the eyes of FACUA and many, perpetuated the role of women in an inferior position and with traditionally marked professional guidelines: women for care, men for security and strength.
The responsibility, according to the Board, was that of the amateur illustrator who gave up the image selflessly. It is not the first time that the Junta de Andalucía has been the protagonist of these awards. Last year she was also among the four nominees , then with a campaign against gender violence with photographs of smiling women who were not real victims , but models taken from image banks. In addition to The Worst Ad of the Year, FACUA has also announced the Worst Company award , the decision of which will be announced in the coming days. The competing brands are Endesa, BBVA, Vodafone and Vueling. This FACUA initiative aims to raise our voice about advertising that continues to treat women as mere objects , claims to sell a product, and, ultimately, riddled with stereotypes.
